Medical Association of Malta - 60th Anniversary - 29/1/2014

To all doctors in Malta

Dear Colleagues

The Medical Association of Malta (MAM) can trace its beginnings to the Medical Officers Union (MOU) which was founded on 3rd February 1954 by Dr Vincent Tabone. Sixty years is a long time and much has happened and there have been many changes. However the aims of MAM today are identical to those of the MOU when it was set up; “to improve the medical services in Malta and the terms and conditions of medical officers in medical employment”. MAM now has around 900 members and is very active locally and on the European scene. Conditions of employment for doctors, training and the standards of healthcare in Malta have improved markedly over the last sixty years.

This is an opportune time for MAM and the Maltese medical profession to look ahead and to strive to further improve training and education and to maintain the highest possible standards of professionalism and integrity so that, together, we can offer our patients the highest possible standards of medical care.

On behalf of the MAM council I would like to invite you to a dinner to celebrate this anniversary, not only to look back, but to look ahead to a bright future for our noble profession.

If you would like to attend kindly contact our secretary Mrs Franca Caruana (Tel 25456891 Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, email or send a cheque with your name and menu choice by mail).

Looking forward to seeing you on the night!

Gordon Caruana Dingli
