MAM press release - 22/10/2017

Press Release (as approved by the MAM council.)
22nd of October 2017

The Medical Association of Malta deplores the horrific assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia earlier this week, and offers its condolences to her family on behalf of its members and council. This attack has no place in a civilised country. It seriously undermines society's confidence in the institutions that are duty bound to protect us.

This attack may have claimed one life but a country is traumatised, the collective ramifications will be felt for some time. It has also seriously prejudiced Malta’s international reputation. MAM calls for the strengthening of our institutions and that a professional and serious effort be made to quickly bring the perpetrators to justice. This will help the healing process. MAM will be represented at this afternoon’s demonstration organised by civil society.

Dr John-Paul Tabone
Vice-President
Medical Association of Malta
