MAM lobbying that Maltese qualifications have to be recognised in EU - 26/5/2004

Following the position taken by the GMC, MAM officials have been in contact with various EU Medical Associations, and goverment officials on the issue.
Legal advice has been sought both locally and abroad.

It appears that Registration with the Medical Coucil of Malta should suffice for registration in an EU country, however the host country may request a certificate of compliance with the directive from the Medical Council.

For specialist certification the same procedure will be required.

A certificate of good standing may also be requested by the host EU state showing that a doctor has no pending disciplinary action.
