French and German authorities recognise Medical Qualifications - 1/6/2004

Official information passed on to MAM from the German Bundesaerte Kammer, and the Ordre des Medicins de France, has confirmed that medical qualifications from the EU accession countries are being recognised.

The French and German councils are requiring

1. Registration with the Medical council of Malta
2. A certificate that either
(i) the doctor has worked for the last 3 out of 5 years
(ii) that Maltese registration is in compliance with EU directives.
3. A certificate of Good standing, that the doctor has not been suspended from medical practice.

To date MAM has no further information on Specialist registration, although the same pattern is expected.
