MAM protests on late payment of cme and merit award. - 29/7/2003

Dr Ray Busuttil
Director General
Health Division
Merchantís street
21st July 2003

Dear Dr Busuttil,

The Medical Association of Malta is reasonably informed that the Continued Medical Education (CME) allowance for 2003 is presently being withheld by the finance department.

Futhermore the payment of the Merit Award for the year 2002, has not yet been affected despite that the committee has completed its recommendations.

As regards to the Health centres, the agreement on the transport allowance has not yet been signed, while the call for application for General practictioners at salary scale 6 has not yet been published.

As you are aware agreement on these issues had been reached after prolonged industrial action, and it would be a great pity if the government side fails to honour such agreements. The association appeals to you to act promptly to remedy the situation.

The MAM trusts that such action will avoid any further dispute on the matter.

Yours Sincerely

Dr Martin Balzan
