MAM signs agreement on Accident and Emergency - Directives withdrawn - 15/11/2005

A delegation made up of Dr Stephen Fava, Dr Martin Balzan, and Dr. Clifford Caruana, had two meeting on the 15th of November at the end of which an agreement was signed.

The Agreement entails an increase in doctors at A & E, to 36 as from January 2006, the issue of registrar posts in A & E within the next two months, and the start of discussions on a new roster.

Rotations in other departments for career doctors preparing for A&E exams , will continue to be supported by the authorities.

Up to the end of december, "off" duty doctors will be engaged to guarantee a minimum of six doctors at night.

Doctors on duty in other departments may be required to help at Casualty only in exceptional circumstances.

MAM has withdrawn all directives, and bound itself not to issue any directives till the end of the chogm meeting.
