Health care professions act passes through committee stage - 8/10/2003

The act has been approved by the committee. The amendments presented were mainly cosmetic and related to wrong wording or nomenclature.

The amendment suggested by MAM that registration fees are not decided by the minister, but by the council which advises the minister has been accepted.

The dominance of government appointees on the appeals board of the Specialist accreditation committee has been retained. However there is a majority of elected members on the medical council and the specialist accreditation committee.

At the moment MAM is disputing a possible misprint in one of the articles with the authorities.
