The following is a short summary about the course itself.
"A burn injury can be one of the most serious and devastating forms of trauma that man can sustain. It does not only affect the victim himself but also all those around him. In Malta the number of burns cases are slowly decreasing in numbers, and this is mainly due to ongoing education of the general public in health matters.
The causes of burns with emphasis to the local setting, the physical and psychological effects in paediatric burns, new technologies in the management of burns wounds, and burns prevention are some of the topics being presented at the forthcoming instructional course on burns and fire disasters. This two day course is being organized by the Plastic Surgery and Burns Unit, Mater Dei Hospital, and the Mediterranean Burns Council (MBC), with the collaboration of the International Association for Humanitarian Medicine (IAHM) and the International Federation of Surgical Colleges (IFSC).
