Meeting with MPO officials on merit award scheme
The merit award committee confirmed it had reviewed around 70% of 2002 submissions. Most were up to standard and approved while a handful were sent back to authours for final correction.
It was expected that this process would be over by the end of May.
MPO officials insisted that only doctors on regular full time employment were eligible for the scheme. This excluded all doctors on contract.
As regards to the eligibiliy of administrative directors, the current position is that these doctors are not eligble. However, MAM is considering what measures to take in order to back their claim.
It was also agreed that doctors retained authorship of submissions. A number would eventually be selected for publication and reference with the author's consent.
