MAM urges government to conclude negotiations
The Medical Association of Malta (MAM) welcomes with pleasure the end of the construction phase of Mater Dei Hospital (MDH).
It augurs that the government will conclude the on-going negotiations with MAM so that the new hospital can start functioning without further delay. Although negotiations started very late, MAM is confident that there is enough goodwill on both sides to conclude these negotiations in the near future.
MAM has made constructive proposals to modernise working conditions for doctors. With these changes patients would be better served and both waiting times and waiting lists can be shortened resulting in true improvement in the delivery of
If the Government truly believes in making the new hospital work, it should be prepared to invest enough resources to retain its most valuable resource, medical manpower. Only then can the 250 million lira investment in construction and
equipment be translated into true benefit to the patient.
