MAM Supports WHO/Europe’s Launch of Comprehensive Survey on Mental Health of Doctors and Nurses Across Europe
The Medical Association of Malta is pleased to announce its collaboration with the WHO Regional Office for Europe on a significant survey to evaluate and support the mental health and wellbeing of doctors and nurses across 27 EU countries, Iceland, and Norway. This initiative, funded by the European Commission under the project “Addressing mental health challenges in the EU countries, Iceland and Norway,” represents the most extensive survey of its kind in Europe, gathering critical insights to inform future strategies for mental health support in the healthcare workforce.
WHO/Europe has worked closely with key European medical organizations—including CPME, UEMS, UEMO, and EJD—and has integrated feedback from various professional bodies. Notably, a proposal from the EJD has led to the inclusion of a dedicated subgroup analysis for junior doctors, highlighting specific challenges they may face and providing valuable insights for policy improvements.
MAM encourages all members to support this initiative by sharing the survey link and relevant information with colleagues within their professional networks. Please share the survey link exclusively through internal channels (emails and professional groups) to help maintain accurate response metrics.
The survey, which launched on 22 October and will run until the 28th of February 2025, is accessible at https://healthworkers-survey.ccomsuam.org.
Thank you for your continued support in advancing the mental health and wellbeing of Europe’s healthcare workforce. We look forward to the valuable insights this survey will provide for both our national and European communities.
